Charles Malcolm McDowell, known professionally as Charlie McDowell, was born on July 10, 1983, in Los Angeles, California. He is the son of renowned British actor Malcolm McDowell and actress Mary Steenburgen. McDowell studied literature at UCLA before embarking on a career in filmmaking.
